1 AI adoption in Swiss SMEs

AXA / Sotomo, 2026 study on the SME labour market, published on 15 September 2026. Survey of 336 SMEs in French- and German-speaking Switzerland, conducted from 11 to 18 March 2026. 35% report targeted integration of AI and 39% are experimenting with it. These are statements by companies, not a measure of profitability. These results do not specifically describe farms or all very small businesses.

2 Productivity in customer support

Erik Brynjolfsson, Danielle Li and Lindsey Raymond, “Generative AI at Work”, The Quarterly Journal of Economics, 2025. The study looks at the gradual roll-out of an assistant to 5,172 support agents in a single company. It observes an average increase of 15% in problems resolved per hour, with effects varying between workers. This productivity measure is not a promise of financial gain for an SME working in the field.
